ESM Server Specifications

Illustrations and configuration specifications are provided. Please contact your sales representative for further consultation on system design and storage calculations. Server specifications are based on a 640x480 image resolution at 7 frames per second recording profile.

Stand-alone Architecture

standalone arch

The stand-alone architecture leverages a single server for the ESM software in conjunction with IP cameras or encoders on a local network. Depending on the processor and storage capabilities of the server up to 120 cameras can run on a single server.

Example: A manufacturing facility with 45 IP cameras leveraging a local network and single server.

Distributed Architecture

distributed arch

The distributed architecture leverages a dedicated management server and separate recording server(s). The benefit of this model is overall scalability through a unified surveillance platform. There is no limit on the number of cameras, locations or users this model can support.

Example: A school district with 30 schools running 60 IP cameras on a recording server at each location and with a management server running at the central data center.

Centralized Architecture

centralized arch

The centralized architecture is used when remote IP cameras are in place and adequate bandwidth is available from the camera for centralized management and recording. This model has no limit on the number of cameras, locations, and users it can support.

Example: A retail chain with 40 stores and 3 cameras running at each store. Store cameras are connected to public internet broadband and recorded at the central office data center.
